Trout Lake Housing Co-op

Trout Lake Co-op provides quality affordable and sustainable housing to a diverse membership in a thriving, engaged community.

Built in 1988, Trout Lake Housing Co-operative is a 31-unit complex situated on Findlay Street in East Vancouver, 1/2 block SE of 16th and Commercial. It is close to transit, shopping, bike routes, and the Trout Lake Community Centre, park, and farmer’s market.

We have a variety of townhouse-style, one, two, three, and four-bedroom units. All units have a small backyard, many with third floor balconies. We are family-oriented and membership reflects the diversity of our surrounding community. We are of mixed incomes, cultures, ages, family size, and sexual orientation. Pets are part of the culture as well. We have a common room for meetings and events, on site laundry (only some units have in suite hook-ups), a ‘commons’ courtyard, vegetable garden plots, and children’s play area. Unfortunately, TLHC is not wheelchair friendly as all units have stairs.

TLHC is entirely self-managed and we are able to minimize our expenses through taking on responsibility of common chores and maintenance. All members are expected to do chores and sit on committees so that the co-op can operate smoothly. Current committees include:
